DETROIT (WWJ)- A semi-truck driver ran out of the Emergency Room after he caused multiple small crashes.

In a statement on X , Michigan State Police said their Detroit Regional Communications Center was notified of a crash involving a semi-truck and a median wall on Saturday around 3:05 a.m. (6/29) at I-94 near Wyoming.

Troopers arrived at the crash scene and found concrete pieces scattered across both sides of the freeway. “Multiple cars were disabled” on the westbound side of I-94, State Police said.

The driver of the semi, 59, told State Police he “lost control” when a vehicle in front of him also “lost control.”

He was taken to the hospital and ran away from the Emergency Room after he’d already been identified.

Eight crashes happened in the area “due to the concrete pieces striking vehicles after the semi crash,” State Police said.

“We as drivers need to drive at a speed and distance that we can control our vehicles regardless of what happens around us,” First Lieutenant Mike Shaw said in the release. “This will help reduce the number of preventable crashes on our roadways.”

The driver’s identity has not been released. State Police said no one was injured in the crashes.
