Drew Basile became the second Jeopardy! champ this season to blame exhaustion on his loss.

The Survivor alum confessed that, during his last episode, his seven day streak came crashing to an end, in part, due to fatigue. As it turns out, tapings for the show often happen very quickly. Oftentimes, the competitors are quizzing multiple times a day or back-to-back days. Production schedules can make it more strenuous for the quiz whizzes.

Drew explained the impact filming so consistently can have.

"Jeopardy! is fatiguing," Drew told Entertainment Weekly . He added: "By the end of the taping day I was exhausted. I had had a terrible Single Jeopardy round, making all kinds of mistakes."

He cited one particular instance where he fumbled an answer that he claims he knew the answer to. As someone from Michigan, he claimed that he knew that the MSU mascot was the Trojans, but in the moment he totally crumbled. Despite all those little mistakes in the first round, he said: "I had a come to Jesus moment in Double Jeopardy, I had really rallied. I felt I was performing better, and I finally had secured a relatively stable position going into Final Jeopardy."

Drew went into the last round with $9,600 and bet $8,399. The clue was, "In her autobiography she tells of a rather 'singular coincidence,' that one of her Swiss ancestors was a teacher of the deaf." Sadly, Drew incorrectly guessed Gallaudet which cost him the win. According to Drew, he did actually know the right answer, but his fatigue clouded his mind.

The champ said: "The amazing thing about Final Jeopardy was I knew the answer. I knew it was Helen Keller, and I was so exhausted I couldn't remember the name. I knew I got it wrong. I was just so tired, for the life of me I couldn't remember Helen Keller's name."

He isn't the only one who struggled with energy on the show. "You saw that with Adriana, and you certainly saw with me," he explained. Adriana Haymaker, who Drew previously defeated to start his streak, opened up to the Jeopardy! podcast about her own struggles with exhaustion, saying she noticed how slow she was moving with the buzzer.

As for Drew's future plans, he's secured an invite to the Tournament of Champions and reassured fans that he'll be practicing ahead of time to fix the "correctable mistake." He noted: "That comes down to a little bit of youth. That comes down to inexperience."
