TEKONSHA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are looking for a suspect who they say has been passing counterfeit bills at businesses in Calhoun County.

Michigan State Police provided two surveillance photos of the woman, who is described as in her early to mid-20s.

According to troopers, she has been giving fake money to cashiers at several stores in and around Tekonsha Township and asking for it to be put on an online card. MSP believes she is working with a group of people.

“MSP is urging area businesses to be mindful when receiving large amount of cash and to take extra steps to determine if the money is real,” it wrote in a social media post Saturday.

Anyone who may be able to identify the suspect or knows about the scam should call the MSP Marshall Post at 269.558.0500.
