Sct. showers & storms tonight into Sunday; an upcoming break next week

Saturday evening begins with scattered showers and thunderstorms. One or two strong to severe storms are possible, with damaging winds and heavy downpours the things we are keeping an eye on. Scattered showers will continue into the overnight as our cold front begins to cross, with showers and clouds keeping temps in the upper 60s.
Sunday will start with showers and even a rumble of thunder a good bet as our cold front crosses. Once again, one or two storms could be strong to severe with damaging winds the biggest risk. Shower chances will be the highest into the early afternoon but slowly decreasing into Sunday evening as our cold front departs. Temps will be slightly cooler on Sunday as they try to get near 80.
Monday morning will be quite the chilly start with temps in the 50s along with the risk of patchy morning fog. A few clouds to start the morning commute but building high pressure will erode away any lingering clouds, leading to a sunny afternoon. Temps are expected to stay on the cooler side as they only get into the middle 70s.
Tuesday will be a fantastic day as high pressure once again dominates the forecast. We could see some patchy fog across our river valleys in the morning with clear skies around. That fog won’t last long as a clear morning gives way to a sunny afternoon as temps push into the low to middle 80s.
Wednesday should start with another decent morning in the 60s. As we develop a southerly breeze, our crisp morning will turn into the toasty and muggy afternoon with temps pushing into the middle to upper 80s. Can’t rule out an afternoon shower or thunderstorm, though chances look extremely isolated at this point.
4 th of July Thursday kicks off with a muggy morning in the upper 60s. A cold front arriving into northern WV will bring some extra cloud cover and the chance for a morning shower or two. With it stationed up to our north, we’ll see chances for showers and storms around in the afternoon though we should also see plenty of breaks so no need to completely cancel fireworks festivities or backyard grilling.
Friday follows suit with another day to pack a rain jacket just in case. The morning won’t be that bad again, just expect to be another muggy one with temps in the 60s. As temps rise into the 80s, scattered showers and even a few thunderstorms will be something to watch for as a cold front crosses our area.
Saturday will see a few lingering showers across our eastern mountain counties in WV during the morning. After our front crosses, we’ll catch a nice lull in the activity during the afternoon, bringing in partly cloudy skies. Looks perfect for Saturday afternoon plans as temps only get into the low to middle 80s.
In your extended forecast, most of the area should enjoy a nice break through next Tuesday. Can’t completely rule out an isolated showers on Sunday, but most should enjoy fairly dry weather into the following week. This dry and sunny break will allow for temps to reach the middle to upper 80s by next Wednesday.
