Car stuck on railroad tracks struck by train at Tipton Ford Access

NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM) — About 9:20 p.m. Saturday night reports of a CPKC train striking a car on the tracks near Tipton Ford Access off Old Hwy 71 alerted Newton County E-911.

Redings Mill Fire, Newton County Deputies were notified along with Missouri State Highway Patrol.

We learn on scene from Troopers a car had turned onto the tracks and gotten stuck. The driver claims he thought he was turning onto the road Troopers said.

Luckily the occupants had exited the small black passenger car just prior to the southbound train slamming into it, pushing it hundreds of feet south from the Tipton Ford Access Crossing.

They are currently waiting arrival from CPKC authorities to initiate their investigation.
