Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever suddenly found themselves in last place in the WNBA's Eastern Conference this weekend, staring down the barrel of a litmus test game against WNBA all-time leading scorer Diana Taurasi, Brittany Griner and the Phoenix Mercury.

Recently, Fever Coach Christie Sides decided to share her honest, heartfelt opinion on how the media and other outside influences are affecting her team.

The Fever lost Thursday's contest against the Seattle Storm 89-77 as Clark was held to 15 points, one below her season average.

Clark voiced frustrations in a six-word reaction to her teammates' leadership skills, or apparent lack thereof, following the Storm loss.

Christie Sides also feels that the Fever have a lot of growing to do based on her post-Storm loss comments.

"We've got a lot of growing up to do," she said after the game according to USA Today.

"That just what it is. The outside expectations, the outside noise, it doesn't help, but we have to stay connected, keep growing and keep finding ways to improve."

The Fever will need all the help they can get against the heavily favored Mercury on Sunday. Phoenix was listed as a seven-point favorite by DraftKings sportsbook heading into the 3 p.m. ET contest.
