Walker named 2025 DYW of Escambia County

T.R. Miller High School’s Edie Walker was named the 2025 Distinguished Young Woman (DYW) of Escambia County June 29 during a program at Flomaton High School’s auditorium.

DYW is a national scholarship program that inspires high school girls to develop their full, individual potential through a fun, transformative experience that culminates in a showcase of their accomplishments, according to the program guide.

Prior to the start of Saturday’s program, 50 percent of the contestants’ scores were already tabulated. The interview portion counts for 25 percent of the contestants’ score. The contestants performed their fitness, talent and self-expressions on stage for the judges.

Breely Richardson of T.R. Miller High School, finished first runner up; was crowned the talent winner; claimed be your best self essay; and won self-expression.

Kylee Walton, also of T.R. Miller High School, finished second runner up; and won the Dale Ash Community Involvement scholarship.

Paisley Donaldson of Escambia Academy won the fitness scholarship.

Walker also claimed the scholastic, interview and spirit of DYW scholarships.

The other contestants included Alycia Smith of Escambia County High School, Monessa McMillan of TRM, Nia Nolan of W.S. Neal High School, Carlye Wiggins of WSNHS, Ashley Parra of ECHS and Mary Joyner Dean of Atmore Christian School.
