Tadej Pogačar retained the yellow jersey after stage nine of the Tour de France , with all the general classification favourites finishing together despite a day of high drama on the gravel roads around Troyes.

The UAE Team Emirates rider forged a decent lead on stage four, and continues to hold an advantage over Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) and Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike).

Evenepoel won stage seven, with the Belgian clawing 12 seconds back on Pogačar, while Vingegaard lost time on the pair above him on GC and also to Primož Roglič (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe).

After a bunch sprint on stage eight, the gravel roads of stage nine had the potential to re-shape the general classification, but somehow the only change to the top 10 was the rise of Derek Gee (Israel-Premier Tech) from 15th to ninth courtesy of his third-place finish from the day's breakaway.

The green jersey remained on the shoulders of Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty) , while Norway's Abrahamsen still has the king of the mountains jersey after another attacking display.

In the young riders competition, meanwhile, there was no change, with Evenepoel remaining in the lead ahead of Juan Ayuso of UAE Team Emirates.
