NBA Fans Mock Beginning Of Free Agency After Underwhelming Start

The NBA's free agency period opened on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET with a dud.

Despite massive hype, there weren't any fireworks during the first hour when teams could officially begin negotiating with 2024 free agents.

Among the early transactions, the most significant move was arguably the 76ers landing former Bulls center Andre Drummond as a backup to starter Joel Embiid.

However, with the team pursuing Paul George, that might not be the move the 2022-23 league MVP was hoping for out of the gate.

In the biggest news regarding re-signings, James Harden agreed to a two-year, $75 million contract to remain with the Clippers. Oh, and, Celtics backup center Luke Kornet is staying in Boston .

No, we're not yawning. You are.

Fans took to social media to mock the underwhelming start to what most expected to be a wild evening.

"The NBA Free Agency tonight," wrote one commenter, accompanied by a GIF of an invisible man in a suit.

"What we expected What we got," wrote another with a side-by-side photo of George with the Sixers and Kornet.

"Woj and Shams right now," joked another with a photo of a befuddled President Joe Biden accompanying it.

While Sunday's start to free agency didn't pack much of a punch out of the gate, there is some good to come out of it.

It gives us something to look forward to Monday.
