Jurgen Klopp picks out four Euro 2024 contenders and delivers simple verdict on England

Jurgen Klopp is clearly enjoying life having left the stresses and rigors of being Liverpool manager behind. He has been to the Champions League final and European Championship, and he was spotted at a tennis tournament in Mallorca this weekend .

As he knows all too well, his life is no longer his own after a career spent at the top of the football world. Klopp graciously gave a quick interview to journalist Agos Larocca , who asked his opinion regarding the outcome of Euro 2024 and Copa America .

Many of the players with whom Klopp worked at Liverpool are taking part in the two tournaments. If you believe the bookmakers, there will be Reds players winning both competitions, though the German kept his cards close to his chest when asked to pick the champion.

"In the moment, it looks a little bit like Spain could do it,” Klopp said (via Liverpool Echo ). “Germany is good, France will be good, England will be better definitely," he added. The 57-year-old was speaking prior to the Three Lions’ fortunate extra time victory over Slovakia on Sunday. He might have revised his opinion after that, even if he no doubt wants the best for England squad members Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez .

Klopp was similarly diplomatic regarding the Copa America. "Argentina or Brazil; or Colombia or Uruguay. I texted yesterday with Alisson , I cannot make that decision,” he said. Bookies have those four nations as the leading quartet in the winner market, so the former Liverpool boss was playing a safe bet with his comments. If not the Brazilian goalkeeper, it seems inevitable that one of Alexis Mac Allister , Luis Diaz or Darwin Nunez reports for pre-season training under Arne Slot with a gold medal.

While football supporters will always be most interested in Klopp’s thoughts on the beautiful game, he was also asked what he has enjoyed most about Mallorca. He recently bought a villa on the island.

"Where can I start? I pretty much like everything about it, to be honest,” Klopp said. “But I am not long enough here yet. We tried to figure out what we like most."

As he is enjoying a break from management, Klopp should have ample time to discover all of the delights Mallorca no doubt has to offer. He shouldn’t be surprised if he gets stopped for another quick interview at some point though.

Liverpool.com says: Klopp will be delighted if his former players can help their nations win the Copa America or European Championship. He didn't need to pick one of them publicly, they know all too well that they have his full support.
