Readers seemed to really enjoy last week's photo which was from the Ross County Fair in 1968 so we are going to continue with the fair this week.

For this week, we are talking Ross County Fair queens.

Delving into our archive we have compiled a photo gallery of every Ross County Junior Fair Queen since 1955 - the first year a queen was crowned, according to the archive.

So who was the queen in 1955? It was Barbara Brown.

Brown was a representative of the Twin Township High School Future Homemakers of America Chapter.

She was chosen from a group of 29 young women.

The headline in the Gazette read, "Barbara Brown 'Suprised' At Being Chosen Fair Queen"

Selected for the queen's court were: Miss Beverly Ann Junk, Miss Marilyn Miller, Miss Toby Crain, and Miss Martha Lou Grice.

To see more than 60 photos of the local county fair queens or for local archive photos from previous weeks, go to www.ChillicotheGazette.com and search for the keyword: Archive.
