Bringing a baby home means life as you know it is changing, and any pets you have may not understand. The first encounter between your infant and fur babies is an important one. No one understands this better than two Himalayans, Stepz and Kiko who just met their tiny new human.
Back in May, TikTok user Emilie Conradi Al-Husseini ( @emilieconradii ) shared the precious moment caught on camera when Stepz and Kiko first met their baby human sister and it's seriously adorable.
"First meeting with the baby," the caption reads. The brief 22-second clip begins with an overhead shot of a newborn baby wrapped and cozy in a carseat carrier. Stepz, who is lingering nearby, decides to take one for the team and approach the baby first. Moments later, Kiko joins in the exploratory expedition to figure out who in the world has joined them in their home.
The pink bow-toting little girl opens her eyes as Kiko leans in for a closer look, sniffing her and planting a kiss in her cheek while Stepz watches on, then does the same. Viewers chimed in to note how cute this is, and they're not wrong. Stepz and Kiko are absolutely the best, gentlest kitties.

How to Safely Introduce Cats To a New Baby
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) explains introducing your cat to a new baby requires a little patience and care. First familiarize your cat with some of the new things and smells before the baby arrives to ensure they don't freak out during the first meeting. This way, by the time baby arrives, the cat has acclimated a bit to the idea of someone new in the house.
Also, make sure your cat has plenty of hiding spaces to avoid the baby if he or she isn't ready to be friends and give them a daily routine they can count on when everything feels uncertain.
Read your cat's response to meeting the new baby. If they're distant, don't force an interaction and when they come around the baby, make it a time they feels safe and loved with a lot of petting so they'll associate this new person with good things. It's also important to note you should give them adequate playtime and attention so they don't harbor resentment and react toward the baby. Overall, pay attention to how they react and take it from there. Be patient and they may soon give kisses the way Stepz and Kiko do!
