Jurgen Klopp's life after Liverpool: Taylor Swift, player messages and $4.3m mansion

Jurgen Klopp has certainly kept himself busy since he waved goodbye to Liverpool . It’s now been around a month and a half since the German took charge of his final game at Anfield , but we’ve seen plenty of him over the past few weeks.

Klopp brought nearly nine years in charge of the Reds to an end in May, having announced his intentions to take at least a year away from football. Arne Slot has since taken over, with his predecessor ensuring he got a warm welcome .

But while Klopp is taking a well-earned rest from football, he certainly hasn’t stayed still. Here’s everything the former Liverpool boss has been up to since he bid farewell to the Reds.

    Champions League final

The first stop for Klopp on his sabbatical was Wembley as he watched another of his old sides going for Champions League glory. It didn’t quite go to plan for Borussia Dortmund though, who fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid.

The club’s supporters though made sure to give their former manager a rapturous reception after spotting him on the big screen – it was certainly better than what Jose Mourinho got after him.

Reports also suggested that Klopp turned down a ‘fortune’ for a punditry role during the final in order to support Edin Terzic, who resigned as Dortmund’s manager after the game.

    Taylor Swift

Not long after the final, it was time for Klopp to return to Anfield, although it wouldn’t be to watch the Reds in action.

Instead, the 57-year-old and his wife Ulla were part of the record crowd for the first of Taylor Swift’s shows at the iconic ground as part of her Eras Tour.

Klopp was absolutely in his element, sporting a pink cowboy hat and sunglasses during the gig, and even claimed to now being a ‘Swiftie’ on Instagram afterward .

    Mallorca mansion

With Arne Slot moving into his house in Formby, Klopp and his wife are now spending much of their time in their new $4.3million (£3.4m/€4m) mansion in Mallorca .

According to the Daily Mail , the former Liverpool boss is turning the property into an ‘ecological family paradise’, with a lot of work having been done.

"I've dreamed of having a house in the south all my life,” Klopp told the podcast Willipedia via Bild . “I like the weather, the climate, I like the people.

"There are lots of things I like here and also people I already know. It's not like I'm looking for new friends. I already have friends for life, and if some of them are here too, that's cool.

"I don't want to emigrate. We go on holiday here every now and then. But when I'm here, I want everything to be as I know it. That's totally boring but the point is that I want to get to know a different life, but not somewhere in the jungle or on the mountain."

    Time for tennis

Having settled in Mallorca, Klopp and his wife headed to the island’s country club at the weekend to take in some tennis.

The couple were spotted in the crowd during the Mallorca Championships, and were given a rapturous reception after being mentioned during the trophy presentation.

Speaking to ESPN journalist Agos Larocca about what he was enjoying about life in Mallorca, Klopp said: "Where can I start? I pretty much like everything about it, to be honest. But I am not long enough here yet. We tried to figure out what we like most."

    Messages to players

Although he’s taking a break from football, Klopp has made sure to stay in touch with some of his former Liverpool stars.

Both Andy Robertson and Diogo Jota received messages during Euro 2024, while the man himself revealed he’d also texted Alisson Becker , with the goalkeeper currently away with Brazil at the Copa America.

“By chance he sent a message after the first game,” Jota revealed (via O Jogo ). “He is a coach who doesn’t miss anything, he knows the moments when he should talk to the players.

“It was a word of support for my goal being disallowed and having a special meaning for me,” he continued. “But then we won the three points, that was the most important thing.”
