A small plane crashed Sunday near the Land O’ Lakes Post Office in Vilas County, leaving a passenger with minor injuries.

Officials say the Vilas County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call at about 11:15 a.m. June 30 reporting the crash, near County Hwy. B.

The 67-year-old woman piloting the plane was not injured in the crash. The pilot is from Watersmeet, Mich., police said.

The FAA lists the owner of the 1997 Beechcraft Bonanza 6-seat single engine airplane as Gina Bakiares Santori. Officials have not confirmed whether Santori was the pilot at the time of the crash.

The pilot avoided several power cables, tall trees and several buildings before hitting the ground, officials said.

    No other injuries were reported.

The crash is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board. The NTSB investigates every civil aviation crash in the U.S. and makes recommendations aimed at preventing future mishaps.
