    Meet the T&G Hometeam high school girls' golf Super Team for spring 2024

    The Central Mass. High School Sports Awards is proud to announce the player of the year nominees for girls' golf. The winners were announced during the live show that took place June 26 at the Hanover Theatre.

    The Central Mass. High School Sports Awards show is part of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards, the largest high school sports recognition program in the country.

    Player of the Year Kylie Heffernan

    Nashoba, Sophomore

    Heffernan earned her second straight T&G Super Team honor after becoming the first Nashoba girls’ golfer to finish first (T1) at the Central Mass. championship, and going on to have great success at the state level. She shot a 4-over 74 to finish seventh at the North/Central/West sectionals, and she tied for eighth with a 6-over 78 at the MIAA state championship. Sinking a 30-foot putt to secure the 78 was her most memorable moment of the season. Heffernan earned medalist honors seven times during the regular season. She served as team captain and was the Mid-Wach League MVP. She is the daughter of Amanda and Brett Heffernan of Lancaster.

    Georgia Beland

    Notre Dame Academy, Sophomore

    Beland made it four straight T&G Super Team honors after helping the Rebels qualify for the MIAA state tournament for the third straight year, which was her most memorable moment of the season. Beland, a 6.8 handicap, finished second at the Central Mass. Championship after shooting 79. She matched that score at the North/Central/West sectional to finished tied for 13th and also qualify individually for the state tourney. Beland’s average score this season was 3-over par. She is the daughter of Rina Sgouritsas and Eric Beland of Webster.

    Addison Cutting

    Notre Dame Academy, Freshman

    A repeat T&G Super Team selection, Cutting led NDA to a 12-2-2 regular-season record, a third-place finish at the North/Central/West Tournament and a spot in the state tournament for the third straight year, which was her most memorable moment of the season. Individually, Cutting was 27th at both the sectional tourney and the state meet, where she ranked among the top three golfers from Central Mass. Cutting earned medalist honors 10 times, and she set a school record by going 14-0 in individual matches while breaking the mark previously held by her sister, Olivia. Cutting’s scoring average was 40. Her team elected her co-captain of next year’s team. She is the daughter of Kerrie and John Cutting of Shrewsbury.

    Emma Quinn

    Wachusett, Junior

    Quinn helped lead the Mountaineers to the state championship at The Ledges in South Hadley. Wachusett posted a 3-shot victory over Wellesley. Capturing the crown with her teammates was Quinn’s most memorable moment of the season. Quinn was a five-time medalist who shot a 79 and tied for third at the Central Mass. Championship. Her 26th-place performance at the North/Central/West sectional helped Wachusett finish second. Quinn’s hobbies include skiing. She is the daughter of Leslie and Chris Quinn of Holden.

    Lily Staiti

    Wachusett, Junior

    Staiti came back from an arm injury to lead the Mountaineers to and undefeated season and the state championship. Staiti shot 78 to earn co-medalist honors at the Central Mass. Championship, which was one of her most memorable moments of the season and a huge confidence booster after breaking her arm in January and enduring a titanium plate and eight screws. Staiti went on to shoot 83, a round that included eight pars, at the MIAA championship at The Ledges in South Hadley, to lead her team to the state title, which was the biggest highlight of her season. Her team’s captain, Staiti earned medalist honors four times in the regular season and was Wachusett’s MVP. She is the daughter of Lisa and David Staiti of Rutland.

    Somer Staiti

    Wachusett, Sophomore

    Staiti helped the Mountaineers to an undefeated season and the state championship at The Ledges in South Hadley. Wachusett posted a 3-shot victory over Wellesley. The victory, with came with the Mountaineers’ hard work and preparation all year, was Staiti’s most memorable moment of the season. Staiti earned medalist honors in four matches. She finished fifth at the Central Mass. Championship. Staiti was the recipient of her team’s Coaches Award. Her hobbies include crochet and painting. She is the daughter of Lisa and David Staiti of Rutland.
