Civic Center waiting on more security system bids

BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln Civic Center Director Chaston Bullock told the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors they received additional bids for a security system. The current camera system is outdated and antiquated.

Bullock said one bid came in from local company Electronic Controls Inc. in Brookhaven. The company looked at the Civic Center Friday and turned in a bid Monday. B&H is working on a bid to turn in this week to Bullock.

The County is also waiting on Ole Brook Fire and Security to give a quote on adding License Plate Reader cameras to the quote. Bullock said the cameras would go in at the entrance to the baseball, soccer and softball fields since that is where a majority of children are.

WLBT reported license plate readers helped narrow down the search for Bogue Chitto man Daniel Callihan who killed Callie Brunett in Tangipahoa Parish and her four-year-old daughter in Jackson.

District 5 Supervisor Doug Falvey recommended the board take no action Monday. Supervisors decided last week to wait for more bids to come in.

“We just need to wait until we get all of the bids in and compare them,” Falvey said. “You need to see which one is best and let us know. We want to do whatever is the best for the center.”

Bullock agreed and said he would like to compare the bids and work with local authorities to get their feedback.

“We wanted to get a collaborative view. What I see as the best may not be the best,” Bullock said. “That is something we would like to do.”
