Pinellas detention deputy resigns after arrest on child, animal porn charges

A Pinellas County detention deputy resigned Monday soon after he was arrested on child and animal pornography charges.

Trevor Scott Willis, 33, faces 10 counts each of possession of child pornography and transmission of child pornography and two counts of sexual activity involving animals, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office began an investigation after detectives learned that child pornography was being accessed and shared via the internet. The material included videos of children between 5 and 15 years old, deputies said. There were also videos showing a child engaging in sexual activities with a dog, deputies said.

Investigators identified Willis as a suspect and learned that he used his personal cellphone to view the videos while on duty at the jail and logged onto the sheriff’s office’s Wi-Fi. When detectives interviewed Willis, he admitted to obtaining and sending the child pornography files, according to the sheriff’s office.

Records show Willis was arrested about 5:35 a.m. Monday. He resigned about four hours later, deputies said.

Willis was being held in the Pinellas County Jail without bond on Monday. He joined the sheriff’s office in 2016.
