LINCOLN COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — A man has been arrested in connection to a woman’s body being found in a wooded area of Lincoln County last week, according to a criminal complaint.

People walking in the Francis Creek area near Taunton Drive found the woman — who has now been identified as Marissa Brandjes, according to a criminal complaint — around 8:45 p.m. on June 24. An autopsy showed Brandjes died from a single gunshot wound, according to the West Virginia State Police.

According to a criminal complaint, people said Brandjes was last seen in her vehicle with Tony Williamson, 35, of Parkersburg, on June 20 leaving Mingo County. He went back to Mingo County on the same day without Brandjes, the complaint said.

Witnesses told law enforcement Williamson said he shot Brandjes in the back of the head, according to court documents.

Williamson has been arrested and is being charged with first-degree murder.
