Jordan Chiles Sends Three-Word Message on Friend Simone Biles as Both Qualify for Olympics

With a spot on the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team on the line, Jordan Chiles found herself in a familiar place -- alongside friend Simone Biles.

Chiles came in third place in the all-around competition at the 2024 US Olympic Gymnastics Trials this weekend, with Biles in first place and Suni Lee just two-tenths of a point ahead of Chiles in second. All three earned spots on the U.S. Olympic team and will travel to Paris later this month to compete.

When asked what it felt like to rank just behind her friend and training partner, Chiles shared some love for Biles.

"I love it," said the 23-year-old Chiles, via People magazine .

Chiles added that the 27-year-old Biles has served as a role model to her.

“She is somebody that I'm always going to look up to no matter what it is in life — whether it's gymnastics [or] just life in general,” Chiles said.

The gymnasts competed together in the 2020 Olympics, held in Tokyo in the summer of 2021.

"This feels like we're doing this all over again because we are, so I'm very proud of her," Chiles said.

Biles, who became the oldest U.S. gymast to secure an Olympic spot since 1950, said she is happy to serve as a mentor to the team's younger athletes, including Chiles.

“I know exactly how they are feeling,” Biles said, via CNN Sports . “If I can be a mentor and a guide, that’s what I am going to do to kind of lighten the load.”
