GLENDALE SPRINGS — The Ashe County NC Republican Women’s Club held their monthly meeting at Glendale Springs Inn on Thursday, June 27 at 11 a.m.

After a delightful luncheon catered by the Glendale Springs Inn and Restaurant the meeting was called to order by the club president, Dr. Toni Wall. Following the invocation and pledge to our flag and country Dr. Wall introduced this month’s special speaker.

Michele Baldwin, president of Badges of Ashe, gave an informative and well received explanation of the purpose and mission of that organization. Badges of Ashe is a voluntary, nonprofit organization whose fundraising supports Ashe County Law Enforcement by providing resources to purchase equipment and necessities, and promoting programs and projects that are not fully funded by county or city governments within Ashe County. All funds raised by Badges of Ashe fund projects that directly relate to law enforcement in Ashe County. Dr. Wall reinforced that community support of local law enforcement is critical to maintaining a safe community.

Afterward, the attendees engaged in club business matters including discussions and decisions related to the numerous community outreach and fundraising events scheduled for this summer and early fall. Volunteers were also identified for several projects. All in all, it was a good time of fellowship and a warmly productive meeting.
