Suspect in deadly Halloween party shooting in Fresno County named

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Investigators working to solve a deadly shooting in Fresno County back in 2022 have identified a suspect.

Officials say 20-year-old Joshua Garcia is wanted for the homicide of 19-year-old Angel Zuniga . Garcia is described as armed and dangerous; he is believed to be in the Fresno area.

Investigators say on October 29, 2022, there was a call of shots fired at 8096 E. Hedges Ave. in Fresno County where a large Halloween costume party was taking place with about 200 guests. A fight broke out and shots were fired resulting in the death of Angel Zuniga.

“He was a young man in our community, and he was senselessly killed. And that is why we work so hard to make sure that Angel’s family sees justice,” said Sheriff John Zanoni during Monday’s announcement.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office believes 20-year-old Joshua Daniel Garcia is responsible for that shooting. Sheriff John Zanoni said the suspect was identified after receiving a tip from a member of the public.

“We are asking the community’s help to find Josh Garcia so he can be taken into custody and held accountable for the murder of Angel Zuniga.”

Surveillance video released last month shows a snapshot of a car leaving the scene, that led to Josh Garcia being identified as a suspect.

“He does have gang affiliation. So that is an aspect that we are also looking at trying to while we’re trying to locate him,” said Sheriff Zanoni.
