    Armed suspect shot, killed by Spotsylvania Sheriff’s deputy

    SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A man is dead after the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office said he was shot by a deputy responding to a report of a domestic disturbance.

    According to law enforcement, deputies responded to the 10400 block of Spotswood Drive at around 3:16 a.m. on Sunday, June 30, for a report of a domestic disturbance involving a firearm.

    When they got to the scene, the deputies reportedly found a man pointing a firearm at a woman.

    One of the deputies fired at the man and the deputies rendered aid to him until EMS arrived. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was not injured.

    The deputy who shot the suspect has been placed on routine administrative leave.
