Maylashia Hogg, who was last seen alive near Feb. 8, 2024, was reported missing on Feb. 14, 2024 and found dead on Feb. 18, 2024. She was nine months pregnant and expected to give birth to a baby girl to be named Londyn Charity.

According to the arrest warrant, a search warrant conducted at the defendant’s home uncovered “forensic evidence of the crime.” The report stated that Maylashia Hogg was stabbed multiple times with “a sharp-edged weapon.” An autopsy conducted determined the manner of Hogg’s death was homicide as a result of “multiple sharp force wounds and multiple stabs and incisions.”

Barnwell Police Chief Michael Butts released a statement Monday evening regarding the update in the case.

“I want to thank everyone who worked tirelessly to help this investigation,” he said. “Please keep Maylashia’s loved ones in your thoughts. We must continue to care for each other, to honor Maylashia and Londyn’s memories, and come together to heal.”

Barnwell County Police Department requested the assistance of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to investigate the case, which will be prosecuted by the 2nd Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

The investigation is still ongoing and those with information are asked to contact SLED at the MAYLASHIA HOGG TIP LINE: (803) 896-0281, or email at tips@sled.sc.gov.
