BENTONVILLE, Ark. ( KNWA/KFTA ) — Northwest Arkansas Community College is now offering a practical nursing program, and applications are available.

It’s a one-year program offered at a college level or to high school students. It gives people working toward their registered nursing license the opportunity to work while earning their degree.

Dean of Health Professions Mark Wallenmeyer hopes this will help fill all the nursing jobs in the area.

“95% of the people that graduate from our program stay in Northwest Arkansas, so it’s a benefit to Northwest Arkansas. And, I think people are excited about it,” Wallenmeyer said.

Wallenmeyer says there are about 150 nursing jobs available in Benton and Washington counties.

You have until July 31 to apply for the program, which starts in the spring.
