Jimmie Allen may cook up G.R.I.T.S. at Delaware show, amid looming sex assault lawsuit

Don't be surprised if Delaware superstar Jimmie Allen performs his new single, a love letter to country girls, when he headlines the Bottle & Cork in Dewey Beach on Tuesday, July 23.

The release of Allen’s new country song "G.R.I.T.S." (an acronym for Girls Raised In The Sticks) coincides with the singer’s yearlong battle fighting two sexual assault allegations made against him by two different women .

Jimmie Allen accused of sexual assault twice in 2023

Allen's ex-manager, known in court documents as "Jane Doe," sued him in May 2023, alleging that he regularly sexually abused and harassed her while she was his day-to-day manager from 2020 to 2022. Allen responded with a countersuit.

Less than a month later, a second woman filed a lawsuit against Allen, accusing him of sexually assaulting her in a Las Vegas hotel room and recording the encounter without her consent in July 2022.

In March, Allen and his former manager recently agreed to drop their lawsuits against each other, The Tennessean reported. The news outlet initially said the proposed order wouldn't be finalized until U.S. District Judge William Campbell enters an order of dismissal, which typically happens soon after both sides agree to drop a lawsuit.

Elizabeth Fegan, the attorney for the first plaintiff (named Jane Doe) told People , "Jane Doe entered into a settlement agreement with Jimmie Allen to avoid the trauma of reliving her abuse over the course of a painful trial," the outlet reported in March.

According to People, the attorney explained that Allen offered to pay a financial settlement in exchange for not bringing the case to trial, which her law firm "agreed to in order to save my client from the emotional trauma of reliving her experience."

Jimmie Allen praises Delaware women in 'G.R.I.T.S.'

The music video for "G.R.I.T.S.," which Allen uploaded to his YouTube channel in May, begins with an aerial shot over a large body of water, accompanied by the words: "Somewhere Down Home."

The Grammy-nominated singer and his bandmates are laughing it up, toasting beers in a parking lot by a pier.

Bandmate Donald "Scooby" Walker, an old friend Allen has known since his days at Cape Henlopen High School, cuts to the chase and says, "It's cool and everything, but where the girls at?"

Another bandmate, identified in the video as Brian "Flav," wears a big smile and answers Scooby by asking, "You mean them 'G.R.I.T.S.?'"

That leads to Allen crooning over the catchy country anthem that puts rural women on a pedestal, including ladies from Slower Lower Delaware, of course. The first verse and chorus of the song include the lyrics:

Fans are eating up Allen's 'G.R.I.T.S.'

Fans of Allen are gobbling up his new single “G.R.I.T.S.” in the comments section on YouTube, with some supporters coming back for a plate of seconds.

"This song has been stuck in my head for days jimmie and I love the video," a supporter said.

"Song of the Summer!!!! Lessssss Goooooo!!!!!," a hyped fan wrote.

"Way to keep representing us Delaware people! Love the music," another wrote.

"Yay, Jimmie I'm so happy for you. I never stopped listening to your music," a diehard supporter added.
