The two candidates are running to succeed incumbent Marjorie Byrnes, who is not seeking re-election. The New York Assembly, 133rd District, includes all of Livingston County and portions of Ontario, Monroe, Steuben and Wyoming counties.

    Andrea Bailey (R, C)

Andrea Bailey was born and raised in Avon and for the last 20 years has lived in Geneseo. For the last eight years, Bailey, who is a former Geneseo Town Board member, has served as Livingston County clerk.

    Issues:

    — Lack of reliable high-speed internet/broadband availability across the district. Ensuring broadband access is critical and empowers individuals, drives economic growth and enhances overall well-being.

    — Challenges and questions faced with the state's green energy rollout. There is a need to be looking at balancing environmental goals with practical considerations while maintaining the agricultural industry. Areas of concern include costs of implementation, supply shortages and ultimately the increased financial burden on the consumer.

    Colleen Walsh-Williams (D)

Colleen Walsh-Williams, 55, grew up in northern Cayuga County and lives in Avon. Walsh-Williams is a local union leader who has worked for the state in several departments.

    Issues:

    — Work to improve schools and help small businesses thrive. Wants to see improved roads and bridges and care for parks, the environment and wildlife.

    — Wants to see people who are struggling get assistance, whether affordable housing, healthcare, mental health services or drug addiction rehabilitation services.

    — Wants to ensure that women continue to have the right to reproductive health care choices and is committed to defending every woman’s right to choose.
