    McLean Co. refurbishes county gravel roads

    HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Officials with McLean County have announced the completion of a refurbishment project for the county’s gravel roads. This initiative, which involved the application of over 4,000 tons of aggregate, has upgraded 20 miles’ worth of roads.

    Judge/Executive Curtis Dame stated, “This project represents our commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for our residents. By investing in our roads, we are ensuring safer and more reliable travel for everyone in McLean County. Maintaining and improving our county roads is a top priority. This project not only addresses current issues but also positions us well for future growth and development.”

    Officials say the refurbishment project is a response to community input received from numerous surveys and included the following key components:

    • Application of 4,000 tons of aggregate across 20 miles of gravel roads
    • Grading and leveling to ensure a smooth and durable surface
    • Improvements to drainage systems to prevent erosion and prolong road lifespan

    According to the McLean County Judge-Executive’s Office, these enhancements are expected to provide numerous benefits to the community, including:

    • Improved safety for motorists and pedestrians
    • Reduced vehicle maintenance costs due to better road conditions
    • Enhanced access for emergency services, school buses and agricultural vehicles

    Officials with McLean County say the refurbishment was made possible through “careful planning” and allocation of county resources, with the support of local contractors and the McLean County Road Department employees who worked to complete the project on time and within budget.
