Warm and humid days ahead for the holiday

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Warm and humid conditions will return for the upcoming Holiday weekend, with a few chances for precipitation across the area.
Most of our Tuesday will be spent under mostly cloudy skies, but the chance for rain will increase overnight as a cold front begins to approach the area. Scattered showers will roll through Mid-Michigan Wednesday morning. But as the cold front passes through in the afternoon, it will help us to dry things out with a few peaks of sunshine possible as we finish off the day.
The forecast for the Fourth of July will start beautiful, as we will wake up to dry and partly cloudy conditions across the area. However, we will remain in a warm and humid air mass, with highs expected to reach into the mid-80s, and dew point temperatures in the low to mid-60s throughout the day.
That warm and humid air mass will allow for a few pop-up showers and storms in the afternoon. The latest forecast shows a 20% chance of activity in Mid-Michigan, with the best chance for rain south of the state line. The chance for rain will decrease after 8 o’clock, leaving us with dry and mostly clear conditions across the area.
We enter into a more active pattern after the holiday, with scattered storms in the forecast for Friday. There is uncertainty about the timing of the system cold front, which would determine what impacts we can expect in Mid-Michigan.
Traveling Up North?
If you plan on traveling Up North for the Holiday, the forecast looks slightly more ideal.
Those in the northern portion of the lower peninsula will still have the chance for a pop-up shower or storm in the afternoon. But, most of the day looks to be dry, partly cloudy, and comfortable with highs in the low-80s.
The best chance for a completely dry forecast on the Fourth of July will be in the Upper Peninsula, where they will be treated to partly cloudy conditions throughout the day, with highs in the mid-70s.
