Police issued an arrest warrant for a man they have charged with allegedly raping a child in Adams County, according to court records.

Police have been unable to determine Schelhaus' location since the onset of the investigation in 2023, according to court documents.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by police, Schelhaus is alleged to have raped a child in Gettysburg Borough in an incident that is believed to have happened between 2014 and 2016.

Police were first made aware of the alleged incident by a ChildLine referral made in July, 2023, the affidavit states.

Through investigation, police determined that the incident took place at the former home of the victim's family in Gettysburg Borough, the affidavit states.

The affidavit states that police investigation determined the victim was assaulted by Schelhaus while he was staying with the victim's family in Gettysburg sometime between 2014 and 2016, when the victim was between the ages of 5 to 7.

According to the affidavit, Schelhaus was a friend of the victim's family.

As of the time the documents were filed on Monday, police are continuing to seek Schelhaus.
