Paramount is reportedly looking to merge with another big streaming service to form a joint ‘super streamer’.

According CNBC , Paramount Global leadership is currently having meetings with other media and tech company executives to hash out a viable plan.

The plan? Combine Max and Paramount+. The merger would be complicated, but the strength of their shared library would increase subscriptions and allow them to better compete against the Netflixes and Disneys of the world.

One of those companies is apparently Warner Bros. Discovery, which owns Max. In terms of subscribers, Max has about 100 million, while Paramount+ has about 71 million subscribers. Disney, meanwhile, has roughly 150 million, and Netflix has 270 million.

The merger is all hypothetical at this point, and may be too complex to get off the ground, but there are alternative solutions.

One is to offer customers their choice of bundles. For instance, Comcast recently introduced a bundle of Peacock, Netflix and Apple TV+ for its cable, broadband and mobile customers at$15 a month. Another option is to have a single app where people can access all of the streaming services in one location.

Speaking of ambition, Paramount execs have Marvel sized dreams for the Sonic franchise.
