LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is facing charges after police say they caught him plotting a murder-for-hire scheme in Luzerne County.

According to the Plymouth Borough Police Department, in January officers began investigating a report from a cooperating witness (CW) about a possible murder-for-hire scheme executed by Dashawn Nelson, 29, of Kingston.

Police say, Nelson, known as “Hef”, got in contact with the CW and offered to pay $5,000 to “shoot another man who resides in Wilkes-Barre.”

Investigators said they learned that Nelson had “beef” with the victim after the CW told officers the victim allegedly “shot up” Nelson’s business in Wilkes-Barre.

The CW told officers that on January 7, Nelson called on FaceTime and offered the CW $5,000 to “take care of a problem,” as stated in the affidavit.

According to court documents, police began recording multiple conversations between Nelson, the CW, and an unidentified co-conspirator, where the three discussed the plan to “commit murder” of the victim.

Nelson has been charged with criminal solicitation – criminal homicide, criminal conspiracy enagaing – criminal homicide, and other related offenses.

On Wednesday, July 3, Nelson turned himself in to the police.
