Heat Advisory and storms expected Friday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — High heat and humidity are forecast for the Tennessee Valley on Friday.

Temperatures will be in the low 90s across the area with heat index values approaching 105 degrees. Take your heat precautions if you’re spending time outdoors.

All counties in North Alabama are included in the advisory.

Over the next few days, dew points will drop, leading to the heat index values decreasing into the mid-90s for the weekend. Humidity will increase again into early next week so it will start to feel hotter outdoors.

Make sure to drink plenty of water and electrolytes. Apply multiple layers of sunscreen, wear lightweight and light-colored clothing, and move indoors if you begin experiencing symptoms of heat-related illness.

Thunderstorms are also in the forecast by mid-morning Friday and the threat will continue into the afternoon. The strongest storms may bring frequent lightning, heavy rain and strong gusts. Have our Live Alert 19 weather app!
