Maylashia Hogg, who was last seen alive on Feb. 8 was reported missing on Feb. 14. She was found dead days later on Feb. 18. Hogg was nine months pregnant and expected to give birth to a baby girl to be named Londyn Charity.

According to the arrest warrant, a search conducted at Reid’s home uncovered “forensic evidence of the crime.” The report stated that Hogg was stabbed multiple times with “a sharp-edged weapon.” An autopsy determined the manner of Hogg’s death was homicide as a result of “multiple sharp force wounds and multiple stabs and incisions.”

Barnwell Police Chief Michael Butts released a statement Monday evening regarding the update in the case.

“I want to thank everyone who worked tirelessly to help this investigation,” he said. “Please keep Maylashia’s loved ones in your thoughts. We must continue to care for each other, to honor Maylashia and Londyn’s memories, and come together to heal.”

The Barnwell County Police Department requested the assistance of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to investigate the case, which will be prosecuted by the 2nd Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

The investigation is still ongoing and those with information are asked to contact SLED.
