Paris Olympics 2024: Sport climbing events and schedule

For the second time ever, sport climbing will be an event in the Summer Olympic Games . The updated version at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games will look similar to its first iteration but with a noticeable change.

In its Olympics debut in 2020 , the climbing competition only had one set of medals for men and women, so the competition combined three formats of climbing: lead climbing, bouldering and speed climbing.

This year, speed climbing has been designated as a separate event and will have its own sets of medals separate from those awarded to the lead/bouldering medals.

The sport climbing competition first made its Olympics debut at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo as one of the proposed additional sports to make the shortlist alongside a few others. It is once again on the list of additional sports for 2024 and will also make its return to the Summer Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
