Mostly clear & comfy tonight; chance for showers & storms on the way

Tuesday evening will be a typical summer drive with temps in the 70s. Mostly clear skies with high pressure around so outdoor evening dinner plans won’t be impacted. We’ll see those temps drop into the low to middle 60s, average lows for this time of the year. As winds diminish a bit, we could see some patchy fog across our river & mtn. valleys.
Wednesday should start mild and dry for the morning commute. As we develop a southerly breeze, our crisp morning will turn into the toasty and muggy afternoon with temps pushing into the middle to upper 80s. As a cold front approaches northern WV, we could see an overnight sprinkle across central portions of WV.
4th of July Thursday kicks off with a muggy morning in the upper 60s. A cold front arriving into northern WV will bring cloudy skies and the chance for scattered morning showers. A brief break through midday and then scattered showers and storms arrive during the afternoon timeframe. We’ll also see chances lingering into the evening and overnight, leaving festivities a bit on the soggy side.
Friday follows suit with another day to pack a rain jacket just in case. The morning won’t be that bad again, just expect to be another muggy one with temps in the upper 60s. As temps rise into the upper 80s, scattered showers and even a few thunderstorms will be something to watch for as a cold front gets closer to our area during the afternoon.
Saturday will finally see our cold front cross, primarily during the early to late afternoon. This will bring in more chances for scattered showers and a few thunderstorms before clearing out by Saturday night. Temps on Sunday are expected to not drop a lot as they still wind up in the low to middle 80s.
Sunday is definitely looking like the better of the two weekend days to enjoy a break. The morning will certainly see it as we deal with morning fog. Can’t rule out a few isolated showers in the afternoon, but definitely seems to be the better of the two days if you’re looking to plan for some outdoor fun. Temps on Sunday will look to reach into the 80s.
Monday should start pretty typical for this time of the year with temps in the 60s along with some patchy fog along our river valleys. Partly cloudy skies will move in through lunchtime and temps rise into the 80s, a few isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible towards the afternoon. Rain chances will diminish during the overnight.
Tuesday continues our summertime spell of hit or miss showers. We’ll catch a break during the morning commute as temps start with very average temps in the low 60s. Prepare for our hot and muggy afternoon as temps push into the middle and upper 80s. This heat and humidity will spark the chance for some isolated showers and storms.
In your extended forecast, much of the following week looks very ‘summerlike’, that is in the sense we’ll see typical temps for this time of the year in the 80s. We should enjoy some breaks but the hot and humid weather will create the chance for on again, off again showers and afternoon thunderstorms.
