Local girl to operate lemonade stand for good cause

MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) – One little girl in Marshall County is looking to change the lives of children battling cancer one cup of lemonade at a time.

During public comment at Tuesday’s county commission meeting, Josie, who shared she is going into the 4th grade, addressed the commissioners to ask if she could operate a lemonade stand within Marshall County.

Josie shared that she plans to donate any money she makes from the lemonade stand to Marshall County’s Childhood Cancer Awareness organization to be used for research.

She also plans to have baked goods at her lemonade stand.

All three commissioners happily approved Josie’s request.

Commission President, Mike Ferro, shared a fond memory of his own.

When he served in the legislature about eight years ago, Alex’s Lemonade Stand was honored along with the efforts of Marshall County on the floor of the House of Delegates.
