It was the year of the catcher in Livingston County baseball.
To limit the All-Livingston County first team to only one catcher wouldn’t have produced a group representative of the talent in the area this spring, particularly if players with less-impressive resumes bumped them to fill positional slots.
So, three players who were primarily catchers made the first team. To be technical about it, Hartland junior Brayden Crowe took an infield slot because he played some at third base, while Brighton senior Carter Gregg got the utility tag even though he was strictly a catcher.
Junior Evan McGlothin of Pinckney had to be the first-team catcher after making the Division 2 all-state first team .
Brighton, which made the longest postseason run by reaching the regional final, leads the county with four first-team picks. Hartland and Pinckney each had three.
