WALLINGFORD, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Police in Delaware County are investigating several car thefts and break-ins that happened within just a few hours in Wallingford.

Nether Providence Township police said the 11 incidents happened in a 6 ½-hour period, between 3 and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. During that time, five cars were stolen, a license plate was taken, three cars were broken into and there was one attempted entry, and in another instance, three men were seen trying to open car doors, police said.

Investigators did not say if the three unidentified men were behind all of the incidents or if others were involved as well.

All of these incidents happened in the same general area in Wallingford: Somerset Place, Liberty, Woodridge and Green Valley roads, Ridge and Medbury lanes, and Governors Drive.

Officials said they were able to locate three of the stolen cars. Two were in Camden, New Jersey, and the other was in the Woodlyn section of Ridley Township.

Police are urging residents not to leave their keys in their cars and keep doors locked.

Police gave no indication that there was a direct connection to sprees in Roxborough and Cheltenham last month, where dozens of cars were broken into in a short time.
