Czechia Announces 36 Player Roster For National Team Camp

Czechia has moved into an elite tier in women's hockey. Alongside Canada, USA, and Finland they round out a solid top four in the world that few can challenge.

The next step in that journey for Czechia begins July 20 as 36 members of Czechia's national program will descend on Škoda Ice Rink in Prague for the first camp of the 2024-2025 year.

Among those who will be attending are several members of the PWHL including Daniela Pejsova (Boston), Tereza Vanisova (Ottawa), Katerina Mrazova (Ottawa), Denisa Krisova (Minnesota), Klara Hymlarova (Minnesota), Aneta Tejralova (Ottawa), and Noemi Neubauerova (Toronto).

Notably absent from Czechia's camp roster was Dominika Laskova, who missed the majority of the PWHL season appearing in only seven games with Montreal following a lower body injury. She also missed the World Championships. Her status for the coming PWHL season also remains unknown.

The group also consists of several SDHL stars like Sara Cajanova (Brynas) and Adela Sapovalivova (MoDo) along with Tereza Plosova, Hana Haasova, Viktorie Švejdová, Tereza Radová, Kristýna Pátkova, Vendula Přibylová, Kristýna Pátkova, Klára Seroiszková, and Agáta  Sarnovská. Michalea Pejslova, a long time member of Czechia's top six forward group made the move to Switzerland this season where she'll play for Ambri-Piotta.

Several members of the camp are currently playing in North America in other leagues. Natalie Mlynkova was voted a 2024 IIHF World Championship All-Star, and is a candidate to be chosen first overall at the 2025 PWHL Draft. She's making the shift this season from Vermont to the University of Minnesota. Also in the NCAA is physical defender Andrea Trnková who was named to the ECAC All-Rookie team last season and ended up playing top four minutes for Czechia at Worlds. Also competing on North American soil are netminders Michalea Hesová (Bishop Kearney) and Aneta Šenková (Kingston U-22), defender Tereza Mašková (Northwood School), and forward Anežka Čabelová (RINK Academy Kelowna).

One concern looking at Czechia's roster is a group of prominent players who have yet to sign with clubs. This includes Czechia's starting netminder Klara Peslarova and backup Blanka Skodova, and members of Czechia's 2024 World Championship roster Karolína Kosinová and Tereza Pišteková.

Rounding out the roster are players competing primarily in Czechia and Finland including Barbora, Dalecká, Adéla Fromová, Anna Vaníčková, Lucie Gruntová, Barbora Juříčková, Anna Kalová, Petra Matějová, Dominika Malicka.

The only other notable omissions from the camp is Klara Jandusikova who played for Czechia at Worlds. The 23-year-old defender played NCAA DIII hockey at Colby College last year.
