Indonesia is a great travel destination, but this remote island has been highlighted as one of Indonesia’s hidden gems for travelers. Recently, this island has been a trending destination, praised for its captivating views and scenic hills.

While the hilly landscape of Padar Island is a popular feature that captures the attention of visitors, there is something else that keeps them coming back—its pink sands. The pink sands of Padar Island can be found within the Komodo National Park. The protected area includes three large volcanic islands: Komodo, Rinca, and Padar. The Komodo National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has many significant features.

With a diverse landscape, observe the lush vegetation and dry savannah on Padar Island. Its natural beauty is well reserved and visitors will notice the untouched feel of the surrounding area.

Additionally, there are sandy beaches and blue waters that coat thriving coral. The islands in the park are also the exclusive home of the Komodo Dragon, the largest lizard species. These features are what make it one of the most interesting and dramatic landscapes of Indonesia. Padar Island in particular has incredible natural beauty that is only amplified by the sands on the beach. Experience the vibrant pink sands on the north side of Padar Island, named Pink Beach. This is where the color of the sand is the most vivid.

Planning A Visit To Padar Island

The best time to visit Padar Island is between April and November. April is likely the ideal time to visit Padar Island during this window due to its pleasant climate. Enjoy only slight rain showers and way less crowding during April. The peak tourism season is between July and August which is when there are hot temperatures and crowds. For shoulder season travel, consider planning your visit during September and November.

To get to the Komodo Islands, visitors first need to make their way to Bali, Indonesia. The easiest way is to take a direct plane to Bali’s airport, Ngurah Rai International Airport. After that travelers will need to book a domestic flight from Bali’s airport to Labuan Bajo, which takes about an hour and a half. From there, there are direct gateways to Komodo National Park.

Head to the popular Pink Beach from the hiking spot on the island. It is important to note that the island does not have accommodations to preserve its beauty and protect the wildlife of the island. As a result, Padar Island is best suited for a day excursion since most travelers stay in hotels in Labuan Bajo.
