Baldwin EMC collecting school supplies

SUMMERDALE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Baldwin EMC is asking for donations of school supplies during their Fifth Annual Supplies for Success Drive.

According to a press release, the Fifth Annual Supplies for Success Drive is taking place throughout July.

During the drive, new or unused school supplies can be submitted at any Baldwin EMC location or at The Wharf store.

These supplies will be distributed to school-age children in need through the Palm Project, which officials say was “started by Baldwin County Education Coalition to give school counselors, social workers, and teachers access to supplies for local students who may not be able to provide their own.”

Below are some of the school supplies recommended for the drive.

• Pens
• Staples
• Staplers
• Composition notebooks
• Rulers
• Index cards
• Flash drives
• Journals
• Crayons
• Washable markers
• Permanent markers
• Colored pencils
• Scientific calculators
• Earbuds
• Any other school supplies

“It’s an unfortunate reality, but every year, many local children go to school without the basic supplies they need to be successful,” said Mark Ingram, Baldwin EMC vice president of corporate services and public relations.

“But you can help change that because every donation goes directly into the hands of students in our community.”
