The putter that has propelled Scottie Scheffler’s amazing season can now be yours to own after TaylorMade launched a retail version of his custom Spider Tour X L-neck.

Retail stores will receive the identical Spider Tour X L-neck that the world number one is using to dominate the PGA Tour.

Scheffler debuted his new putter at the Arnold Palmer Invitational this year, kicking off a run of six wins in 10 outings.

“I was with him that whole week and he didn’t make one adjustment [to the putter],” TaylorMade Tour rep Adrian Rietveld told GOLF.com.

“He was ready to go the moment he stepped foot on the grounds.”

After going nearly a year without a title, Scheffler’s winless skid was broken in his first week with the new putter.

Since then, he’s been all but invincible, winning four Signature Events in the Workday Memorial Tournament, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, RBC Heritage, THE PLAYERS Championship, and The Masters.

The switch was a huge change for Scheffler, who used blade putters in his entire career before adopting the X-mallet.

It has paid off in a big way for Scheffler.

He first trialled a prototype Spider putter, the Spider Tour X SS Proto, during the 2023 FedExCup Playoffs, but the club was not long in his bag before he switched back to the blade.

In addition to the L-neck common in the blade putters Scheffler was accustomed to, his prototype had other variations from the standard Spider putter.

The face is milled and metal with visible black screws on the heel and toe, and the centre of gravity is further forward than other Spiders.

“I’ve always liked the visual of that Spider putter, but I really just did not like the feel,” Scheffler said.

“That’s something we discussed, kind of the feel.

“I’ve always struggled with putters that have a lot of weight in the back side of it, and this one is a bit different than a lot of the Spiders that they’ve made, and the weight is more in the front so it has the feel of a blade putter that I like but it also has a lot of that visual on the top where it’s easier for me to line up.”

Scheffler would test various Spider heads over several months, and eventually asked for a Spider Tour X with his preferred “L-neck” but with all the “bells and whistles” of the Spider, as confirmed by TaylorMade, including a full sight line on top of the True Path Alignment and a Pure Roll insert technologies.

The Scottie Scheffler Spider Tour X L-neck putter is available at www.taylormadegolf.com priced at $349.99.
