WWE Speed Results (07/03/24): Xavier Woods topples Nathan Frazer to face Andrade for title shot

The latest No. 1 contender tournament in WWE Speed continued on Wednesday, as Xavier Woods of The New Day continues to claw his way toward current champion Andrade, but he’d have to go through Nathan Frazer, one-half of the current NXT Tag Team champions (alongside Axiom) to secure a shot at the legendary luchador.

Both Woods and Frazer have been extremely busy as of late with their respective storylines on WWE RAW and NXT, the former having just landed a victory two nights ago against Karrion Kross and The Final Testament — as Frazer prepares to help defend his tag gold at Heatwave on July 7 in Toronto.

And, with that, on to the three-minute crucible.

Frazer wasted no time in attempting to pin Woods within the first 15 seconds, a favor immediately returned by Woods only five seconds later, but neither competitor was successful as both are a difficult out by all standards.

A gut-buster by Woods with just over 90 seconds remaining nearly put Frazer out of his misery, but not so fast, my friend.

They’d shift momentum back-and-forth at an insane pace as the clock dwindled to less than 60 seconds, and the pressure was on. Frazer missing a Phoenix Splash cost him dearly as he was met with a superkick thereafter, and then the Limit Break Elbow from the top rope.

Woods took the victory with only 13 seconds remaining, and he’s on to face Andrade, as Frazer licks his wounds before his flight to Canada.
