Miami, FL — The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for parts of Miami-Dade and Broward counties in South Florida. The advisory will be in effect from 10 a.m. on July 3 until 8 p.m. on July 4 for inland and Metro areas. During this period, temperatures could feel as high as 110 degrees due to the combination of heat and humidity.

Residents and visitors are urged to take precautions to stay safe during the extreme heat:

    1. Seek Air-Conditioned Spaces : Spend time indoors in air-conditioned buildings like community centers, libraries, malls, or movie theaters.
    2. Limit Outdoor Activity : Reduce physical activity and find shaded areas if you need to be outside.
    3. Time It Right : Plan outdoor activities during the cooler morning or evening hours.
    4. Dress Appropriately : Wear lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting clothing.
    5. Stay Hydrated : Drink plenty of water and electrolyte-rich beverages. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink more.
    6. Avoid Caffeine and Alcohol : These can contribute to dehydration.
    7. Sun Protection : Wear a hat and sunscreen to protect against harmful UV rays.

Nighttime temperatures will drop slightly but are still expected to feel like at least 90 degrees . Additionally, there is a 40% chance of precipitation on Independence Day , with rain likely to increase as the day progresses. This may impact outdoor festivities, including picnics and fireworks displays.

Remember, if you experience symptoms like lightheadedness, confusion, weakness, or fainting, seek immediate medical attention by calling 911 .
