RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Amanda Chase, a republican who represented District 11 in the Virginia State Senate from 2016 to 2024, has announced that she will run for the Virginia Senate seat vacated by Sen. John McGuire after he won the Republican nominee for the District 5 House of Representatives seat .

Chase announced Wednesday that she would run for the District 10 seat, which represents the counties of Amelia, Appomattox, Buckingham and Cumberland, as well as parts of Prince Edward, Goochland, Hanover, Louisa, Powhatan and Fluvanna.

We need to return a true conservative that you can trust to the Virginia Senate,” said Chase in her announcement. “I have an 8 year perfect 100 percent voting record that proves I’m pro-gun, pro-life, pro-school choice, pro-God, pro-election integrity and have voted again all tax increases and regulation for eight years.”

Chase, who has described herself as “Trump in heels,” has stood by claims that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” and has claimed to have evidence proving that Virginia Democrats were “cheating” ahead of the 2021 gubernatorial election, in which she lost the Republican nomination to Glenn Youngkin.

Chase also disputed the results of her primary against Glen Sturtevant for the Virginia Senate’s 12 District seat in 2023, saying that the computers used to count early votes didn’t comply with state law and that Sturtevant’s campaign manager “was illegally chosen as the sole Republican to certify early voting machines during early voting.”

In 2021, Chase was censured by the Virginia Senate after voicing her support for Jan. 6 rioters and making baseless election fraud claims regarding the 2020 presidential election, even proposing a $70 million state-funded audit of the results in Virginia.
