I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the forecast is looking rocky for any late-evening outdoor plans for the 4th as thunderstorm chances return.

Tonight scattered thunderstorms are expected but will be moving out by dawn’s early light. During the day, conditions will improve for outdoor activities.

Cloud cover will make way for sunshine as temperatures ramp up. Hot and humid by the afternoon as temps will climb into the 90s with heat index values exceeding 100 degrees. Generally dry, however there is a better chance of a lingering shower along the Missouri/Arkansas State line.

The big question is, “Will rain ruin the nighttime fireworks show?” Unfortunately, Mother Nature may throw a wrench into evening plans as more rain and thunderstorms are forecasted to return.

A cold front is expected to sweep through the Ozarks Thursday night. This frontal passage will be a catalyst for more thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, flooding, and lighting.

Definitely a damper on any planned fireworks displays for Thursday night, however, the good news is the rest of the week into the weekend looks great.

Thursday’s heat and humidity will be swept away for Friday as highs will be in the mid to low 80s. Temps in the 80s stick around for both days this weekend no major concern of wet weather.
