NEXT 24 HRS: A line or small area of showers and thunderstorms will lift northeast southcentral Minnesota after 8 AM . This activity will eventually impact areas along and north of I-90 (mainly near I-94) through the late morning. Additional lines of thunderstorms will develop during the afternoon and evening west of the river and then move east or northeast in the region. Some of these thunderstorms could contain large hail or brief heavy rainfall. Although showers and a few thunderstorms will continue after 7 pm , the severe threat will end. High temperatures will climb only into the 70s.

LOOKING AHEAD: A cloudy and cool day is expected on Friday as showers develop and rotate around the low pressure center over the region. It is certainly not an all-day rain event, and any rainfall amounts look light. After a brief dry spell Friday night through Saturday, a couple of systems dig south into the area Saturday night through Tuesday, resulting in more showers and thunderstorms chances. We do not expect significant rainfall during this period, and there will be plenty of dry periods. Mainly dry with slightly below average high temperatures (upper 70s to low 80s) are expected for the rest of the work week, with more seasonable temperatures (middle 80s) for the weekend.
