At a high school in Minnesota, a transgender girl was taken to the hospital with a broken jaw after being reportedly attacked by a classmate. Cobalt Sovereign, 17, told KARE 11 this week that she was raped by a male student on May 30 as she was leaving the men’s bathroom at Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, which is about 15 miles west of Minneapolis. Sovereign said she had to be in the hospital for two days and have surgery on her jaw.

Barbara Hallick Yeomans made her remarks during public comment period of the City Council meeting. She said her son grapples with substance abuse and mental illness and repeatedly has been harassed by police. She said her son also suffered verbal abuse by a guard in the Denver County Jail.
