    Boxed-in driver crashes into Pennsylvania State Police cruiser during York County chase

    YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — In an effort to get away, a fleeing driver crashed into a Pennsylvania State Police vehicle multiple times after they were boxed-in in a York County parking lot.

    According to a criminal complaint filed by State Police at York, David Frederick, 33, of Maryland, was trying to get away from police when he turned into a dead-end lot at the intersection of Salem Church Road and Lake Road in Springfield Township around 7 p.m.

    Troopers said Frederick revered into a Trooper’s cruiser, crashing into the front of the vehicle. He then drove forward and backed into the cruiser again, and was able to flee.

    It wasn’t long though until State Police said they were able to take him into custody.

    Another Trooper said they saw “heavy” damage to the front of the cruiser, according to the complaint.

    For crashing into the PSP cruiser, Frederick faces a felony charge of aggravated assault by vehicle, a misdemeanor charge of simple assault, and a summary charge of harassment.

    Online court records also show that Frederick also faces multiple charges for the chase.

    Frederick is lodged in York County Prison with bail set at $50,000 and awaits a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 15.
