Registered sex offender to be released in Oconto County, community meeting set for Wednesday

A 71-year-old man who is a registered sex offender will be released from prison and live in the Town of Riverview as of July 15, according to the Oconto County Sheriff's Office.

A community notification meeting will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Crooked Lake Community Center/Fire Department, 15441 County W, Crivitz.

The sheriff's office said the meeting is to inform, not to increase fear. It also warns that residents who threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated.

Murry Locke, who will live on Elkey Road, has been convicted of possession of child pornography, occurring in 2010 in Oconto County; first-degree sexual assault of a child, occurring in 1991 in Brown County; and attempted sexual assault on a child.

Locke, then age 58, was charged in Oconto County after a man complained that Locke was taking photos of his 9-year-old daughter and other children at Chute Pond Campground in the Town of Mountain.

Locke, who was already a registered sex offender, subsequently had his mobile home trailer searched, where an investigator found photographs of dozens of children in various sexual poses and pictures of adults engaged in sex with the children, who appeared to be no older than 10 years old.

Locke entered a no-contest plea on two child pornography possession charges and was ordered to spend 15 years in prison, followed by 10 years of extended supervision.
